Eco Resorts in Costa Rica

Parador Resort & Spa on July 26, 2011 - 9:54 am in Parador Resort & Spa, Sustainability

Sustainable tourism practices have little to no impact on the local environment, and Costa Rica is quickly becoming a popular destination for tourists interested in lowering the carbon footprint of their travels. The Costa Rican Tourism Board created the Certification for Sustainable Tourism, or CST Program, to distinguish businesses that implement sustainable business models. There are five levels of sustainability with level one representing the first steps and level five representing an exemplar of sustainable practices. The resorts listed here have all received a level five CST rating.

Parador Resort & Spa

The Parador Resort and Spa operates with sustainability in mind. From composting and recycling to energy and water saver programs to the use of rainwater and biodegradable soaps and detergents to participation in reforestation and beach clean-up programs, guests can rest assured their experience is low impact. A full-service spa and rooms with views of the ocean, jungle or garden ensure that guests relax and unwind.
