Parador Celebrates Costa Rican Independence Day, 2013
Every year on September 14th, Costa Rican kids across the country light up the night with homemade lanterns to celebrate the eve of Independence Day. These lanterns symbolize the night the news of Independence from Spain reached Costa Rica via messengers who traveled throughout Central America carrying these faroles (small lanterns) to light their way.
This year on the 192nd anniversary of our independence from Spain, our F&B manager, Erick Quesada, helped our guests’ children create their own colorful “Mother Nature” lanterns out of recyclable water bottles.
Thanks, everyone, you made it a very special evening!
