noun

  1. the use of aromatic plant extracts and essential oils in massage or baths.

Coined in 1937 by French perfumer and chemist, René-Maurice Gattefosse, the term “aromatherapy” has come to encompass everything from the original essential oils with therapeutic benefits to the newer, more holistic approach that unites body, mind and soul. These days you might even find the word splashed across a product that’s an entirely chemical creation, but here at the Pacífica Spa, our aromatherapy treatments are derived from the purest of essential oils and used to bring our guests a blend of physical and spiritual wellbeing.

Because Pacífica Spa is built on the edge of the rainforest, your “scentsory” experience begins the moment you walk down our stairs: your senses will immediately pick up on the lush green scent of nature and your stress will begin to ease of its own accord. As you walk through the gates, you’ll sense lavender and eucalyptus in the air. In the dressing rooms, a combination of mint and eucalyptus eases fatigue, and the scents of orange and lime in the massage rooms infuse the rooms with a sense of calm.

Below please find a list of some of the essential oils our trained therapists use to tailor their treatments to just what the doctor–or your sensibilities—ordered.
